How to lock your Mac or put your screen to sleep in macOS

Image
How to lock your Mac or put your screen to sleep in macOS     There are a number of different ways to lock or sleep your screen in macOS. Before we show them to you, however, it's important to make the distinction between locking your screen and just putting it to sleep. If you lock your Mac you'll put it to sleep and need to type in your login password on your Mac's lock screen (or unlock it with TouchID on a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, or with an Apple Watch). If you put it to sleep, you won't necessarily lock it. In order to lock your screen, you need to set up the password in System Preferences. Here's how to do that. How to set up a password to lock the screen  Launch System Preferences either by clicking on its icon in the Dock or by choosing it from the Apple menu. Click on the Security & Privacy pane. Choose the General tab and check the option that starts 'Require password…'  Choose an option fro...

Taming Android File Transfer on Mac OS X

Image
After installing Android File Transfer on my MAC, my computer stops responding for for a while (may be 10 to 20 seconds) whenever I plug in my Sony Digital Paper. I followed the steps in the following post, and the problem solved. Source: https://cooltrainer.org/taming-android-file-transfer-on-mac-os-x/ Posts  |  Projects  |  Source  |  CV  |  Contact Taming Android File Transfer on Mac OS X 2012-12-21 11:12 Android File Transfer  is an OS X application enabling file transfer with devices running Android 4.0 and later using Microsoft's  Media Transfer Protocol , a protocol unsupported by the OS itself. Android File Transfer starts an agent that detects the presence of a connected Android device and automatically opens the main application. However, a locked Android device won't initiate an MTP connection for obvious security reasons. AFT informs you of this with a modal dialogue and endless Dock bounces...

How to Create a DVD ISO Image from Files on a Mac

Image
How to Create a DVD ISO Image from Files on a Mac Using the free tools on your Mac to make ISO images I had to create an .ISO file for a client recently, using the contents of a DVD (the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders). The resulting ISO disc image had to be compatible on Mac and Windows systems. This tutorial is a little offtopic, but since it took far too much Googling to find the right solution, I figured I'd share the process here for PVC readers. Hopefully these simple steps will save you some trouble. Here's how I did it… Note: This tutorial assumes that you already have the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files/folders copied onto your hard drive, under a master folder. Steps are for Mac OS X Tiger, but should be nearly identical on Panther and Leopard. Start up Disk Utility, and under the  File  menu choose  New  >  Disk Image from Folder . Navigate to the master folder that contains the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, and confirm your selecti...

How to run two versions simultaneously on a Mac?

How to run two versions simultaneously on a Mac? Installing multiple versions on Mac OS X is basically dragging the Firefox application out of the DMG file to the desktop and rename the folder. You can drag the renamed Firefox application folder to the Applications folder like you would normally install Firefox. You need to use the terminal to create a new profile for that version. Make sure that no profile is selected as the default to make the Profile Manager show when you start Firefox. You can check that in the profiles.ini file. http://kb.mozillazine.org/profiles.ini_file http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager Originally from  https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1149213

How to Download iPhone Apps From iTunes on Your PC or Mac

Original Article: https://www.lifewire.com/download-apps-to-ipad-using-itunes-4103798 How to Download iPhone Apps From iTunes on Your PC or Mac by  Daniel Nations Updated May 17, 2018 In 2017, Apple removed the option to download and install apps using iTunes on a computer. Following user complaints, Apple made available an  older version of iTunes  that users can download and use on their Macs and 32-bit or 64-bit PCs. This iTunes version returns the ability to download and install apps to your computer. Subsequent iTunes upgrades are not applied automatically.  This article is archived for those users. If you read about an app on your laptop, you don't need to hunt down your iPad to download it on the spot. You can buy it on iTunes and download it later. This is a great way to keep from forgetting the app's name. If the iPad is  childproofed with app purchases turned off , gathering around the PC to purchas...
